Blurring the line between inside and outside – the boundary is redefined a buffer zone, a place where inhabitans can play and enjoy their hobbies and benefit the best of both worlds.
The Embankment House is situated on a long and narrow north-south facing plot located in a heavily industrialized area.
In order to create a better sense of distance and presence with the surroundings, we designed a house that is open and connected to its surroundings.
A house where family can be united whilst maintaining individual privacy. A balance of both openness and independence, a space that is both comfortable and easy to live in.
A project inspired by shinden-zukuri – spaces joined by corridors and bridges, creating unity with the surrounding environment and an undeniable sense of calmness and ‘wa’.
An open and rich environment for two families – mutual privacy without sacrificing closeness, in harmony with nature and its surroundings.
This site is comprised of three lots located about ten minutes on foot from Kakuouzan Station in a quiet, secluded, high-class residential area.
